Thanks a lot, this really helped me put in a new EL-panel. I'd like to share some observations which may help others... Taking the old EL-panel out worked fairly well because I used a palette-knife to go under the old panel and detach it. (Had read that somewhere.) I had to go in from both sides. (Be careful not to scratch anything!) After that I could pull the panel easily out. I then also used the palette-knife to gently and super carefully push the new EL-panel down after aligning it right and using the old glue to keep it in place. (You may want to cover the tool with something thin and soft; you could scratch the EL-panel or worse the LCD from the underside!) One trouble I ran into: At first I thought I had messed up the LCD because it did not work properly any longer and entire sections were not displaying anything / lines were missing. I found out that by gently pressing on the sides, it started working. So I squeezed the little metal braces a bit more, so the metal frame ( which I had detached like shown in the video) pushed a bit firmer on the actual LCD. That fixed the issue. I am not sure whether that's normal or just me having a funky display. Last but not least, after putting in the new yellow EL-panel, the high pitched whining sound from the one component powering the EL-panel disappeared completly. Again, not sure whether that is because of the new panel or just me unplugging and replugging cables. (BTW, I chose a soft-yellow display. It's not quite wavestation-like, the gray-blue would look better imo, but it certainly is easier to read due to better contrast.) Anyway, a bit long post, but I thought I'd share for the next person working on the beloved HW Wavestation using this very helpful step-by-step!
